British Women Composers

The 3rd Volume in the ongoing series "British Music for Strings" on the German CPO label has just been released. Douglas Bostock and his Southwest German Chamber Orchestra have dedicated it to first recordings of works by British women composers. The Suite, Op. 1a by Ethel Smyth is a major discovery, which Douglas himself edited for the recording. The other composers represented are Susan Spain-Dunk, Constance Warren and Ruth Gipps.

The 4th Volume with more first recordings and also including a well-known female composer is expected early in 2022.
