100 Days!
After exactly 100 days at his home on the Isle of Reichenau and many cancelled engagements due to the Corona Pandemic, Douglas Bostock returned to conducting this week. The musicians of the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra were happy to finally play together again, albeit under unfamiliar circumstances on the stage of the Congress Centrum Pforzheim (CCP). Spacing between the players and a completely empty hall made the acoustics difficult. But, the musicians soon adjusted and grew accustomed to the situation. The Online-Concert on 28th June with the excellent Swiss pianist, Oliver Schnyder, was a triumph in the face of many hurdles. It signalled "We're back!".
The following week Douglas and the orchestra launched into their second CD recording of British music this year for the German label, CPO, this time with works by Bantock and Wilson.
